Aubrey Dean Knott Memorial Scholarship
Our brother, Cora Williams, was awarded the Aubrey Dean Knott Memorial Scholarship! She was chosen to receive this scholarship in recognition of her outstanding achievement in the UTK School of Design Foundations studios!
After her portfolio review, the voting faculty made the decision that her submission best matched the scholarship guidelines outlined by the donors!
Prix De Lune Gold + Silver Studio Awards
We congratulate our brothers, Roarke Lanning and Abigail Thompson, for earning special recognition for their final review studio projects.
Design awards were presented to the top two projects and voted on by the studio. The Prix de Lune Gold and the Prix de Lune Silver represent exceptional work in concept, process, and product, revealing unexpected possibilities. Besides the honor of the title, the top
two projects were awarded architectural monographs. Roarke Lanning received the Prix de Lune Gold, and Abigail Thompson
received the Prix de Lune Silver.
Studio Brieft:
MONUMENT À LA MORT DE LA NATURE is an instrument of PLACE that will serve as an intimate sanctuary devoted to the absorption and digestion of a heroic landscape, a tranquil, meditative environment
that may be understood as both a productive landscape and a destructive landscape. It possesses an inherent dichotomy
between living and/or death. MONUMENT À LA MORT DE LA NATURE counters fleeting histories and processes that exist only as ones and zeros and whose lack of accessibility for future generations will far exceed that of the physical artifact.

Director's Teaching Assistant Award
5th year Architecture brother, Anja Cordell, was awarded the Director’s TA Award this past fall! We are so proud of her accomplishments and congratulate her on this award!
Statement from the Director of the School of Architecture, Carl Lostritto:
“It’s my pleasure to share that Anja Cordell is the winner of the inaugural Director’s TA Award. The existence of this award is meant to acknowledge my appreciation for the role TAs play in our culture. With that said, it was important to me that the recipient of the award be initiated by faculty and staff who most directly see the contributions of individual TAs.
The nomination statements by Tricia Stuth and Julie Beckman were quite powerful. Tricia wrote about Anja’s immediate impact on the courses she and Ted Shelton teach including how Anja modeled leadership and continued to learn from faculty in her role. Tricia also shared my sentiment that Anja is well known and highly sought after among faculty thanks to a diverse TA career. Julie nominated based on Design Camp and proudly shared how much Anja has become a collaborator and influencer on the direction of that program. “
Student Government Association Representative
One of our brothers, Chloe Plummer, a second-year architecture student, has had the opportunity to become a Senator for the College of Architecture and Design in the Student Government Association (SGA). She can represent the interests of CoAD’s student body in decision-making and advocate for positive change!
We are so proud of Chloe and can’t wait to see all the great things that she accomplishes!!
